German Design Award 2019

ALIAS WINS THE 2019 GERMAN DESIGN AWARD  WITH GRAN KOBI ESSENTIEL BY PATRICK NORGUET
AN HONORABLE MENTION GOES TO OKOME BED BY NENDO

The award-giving ceremony is due to take place on 8 February 2019 in Frankfurt in the context of the international trade fair event Ambiente.

Frankfurt, 24 November 2018 – Alias attains the highest level of contemporary design excellence by winning the 2019 German Design Award in the Furniture category with gran kobi essentiel, the armchair designed by Patrick Norguet. In addition, the okome bed signed by Studio Nendo for the company has received an honourable mention for its iconic Design.

This prestigious prize is awarded every year by the German Design Council, the important association which, ever since 1953 has been spotlighting the most original design products with a particular focus on those with an elevated innovative content: German Design Awards support those international manufacturers which make use of design to confer added value to their brand.

The jury, which is made up of some of the most eminent entrepreneurs, designers and experts of the industry, have perceived an evident element of innovation in the gran kobi essentiel chair by Alias: “the way in which the structure embraces the shell is an excellent design solution; the fully upholstered shell regales elegance and comfort; the generously proportioned and slightly truncated seat confers a compact and streamlined appearance to the armchair”.

“It is a great honour to receive awards like this one, which assume a particular significance in this phase of our company’s evolution: our efforts are strongly focused on strengthening our roots, on the values of authenticity and originality represented by Italian design worldwide. To receive this award and an honourable mention for two new generation products proves that, as well as having done a good job on our brand identity, we also manage to communicate our efforts consistently and authoritatively in terms of stylistic research and innovation. Our consolidated collaboration with talented designers of the ilk of Patrick Norguet and Oki Sato is surely another strong point in our favour and one we are proud of”, commented Andrea Sanguineti, brand manager di Alias.

The German Design Award prize-giving ceremony is scheduled to take place on 8 February 2019, in the halls of Ambiente, the international trade fair dedicated to consumer goods for the home, hosted in Frankfurt.
