Alias thinks sustainable:
Alias is committed to creating sustainable products while minimising its environmental impact through an all-around approach that involves every stage of its activities.
Timeless design
Alias Green Manifesto
Alias's design approach aims to reduce production complexity in favour of disassembly, thus facilitating the repair of damaged components and their proper disposal at the end of their life cycle.
This commitment translates into the research and use of innovative materials, attention to production processes and high-quality design. The "Green Manifesto" is the concretization of all this.
MATERIAlias
Alias is committed to using recycled and recyclable materials. Our mission is to constantly innovate design products through research into sustainable and resourceful materials without losing focus on design quality.
ALUMINIUM
Aluminum is a light and durable material that can be recycled indefinitely without losing its material quality. The main collections of Alias are made of aluminium, in particular Frame, Frametable and Kobi.
STEEL
Steel is a robust and durable alloy completely recyclable. It currently is the material with the highest recycling rates in the world.
MDF
MDF, an extremely compact and resistant material composed of very fine recycled wood fibres bonded together. The outer surfaces are protected by ultra-matt, anti-fingerprint and self-repairing varnishes that enhance aesthetic quality and durability.
PLASTIC
Plastic is a complex of polymers, lightweight and durable. Alias uses high-quality plastics in the Slim, Segesta and Spaghetti collections. These products can be completely disassembled to facilitate repairs and disposal at the end of the product life cycle.
Products certifications
FSC®
FSC® certification identifies wooden products sourced from responsibly managed forests that respect the ecosystems, animals and people that depend on them. We use FSC® certified wood in our outdoor collection in heat-treated ash tech wood by Alberto Meda, and a selection of seats with solid wood legs, including Segesta wood and Taormina wood chairs by Alfredo Häberli, slim chair wood by PearsonLloyd and Kayak stool by Patrick Norguet.
GREENGUARD®
The certification decrees the effort for the well-being of people in indoor environments, setting emission limits for chemicals and pollutants used in production. Alias has joined the program created by the American Institute UL Environment, with the Frame and Frametable collections by Alberto Meda and the Slim collection by PearsonLloyd. A selection of products has obtained the GREENGUARD GOLD level, which includes even more restrictive criteria.
