Pietrasanta Design Week-end 2024

The minimalist design of Longframe, conceived by Alberto Meda, is starring at the “Abitiamo alla marinara” exhibition, curated by Cappellini + Iacchetti during the Pietrasanta Design Week-end.
Former Church of the Sant’Agostino complex. 26 to 29 September 2024.

Alias, a well-established Italian design brand, is delighted to participate in the Pietrasanta Design Week-end, an event stemming from the tradition of the Milanese design week, conceived by Paola Silvia Coronel, which in recent years has become an important occasion to reflect on design culture.
The theme of the third edition in Pietrasanta – a common thread running through the exhibitions, installations and conferences that bring the event to life – is distinctive features, unique and recognisable characteristics that distinguish an individual, object, company or place from others.
Whether physical, stylistic or conceptual, distinctiveness imparts authenticity;

 in the world of design and architecture, there is a tension between the desire to maintain constant recognisability and the need to evolve, while risking losing one’s identity.
In a world saturated with information and competition, recognisability is crucial to stand out and create a lasting bond with the public.
This theme is the focus of some of the main installations at Pietrasanta Design Week-end, including the “Abitiamo alla marinara” exhibition curated by Giulio Cappellini and Giulio Iacchetti, staged in the former church of the Sant’Agostino complex.
The design icons presented in this atmospheric space include Longframe by Alberto Meda.

Awarded an Honourable Mention at the Compasso d’Oro ADI in 1998, this chaise longue embodies the Italian designer’s approach, which combines product design and engineering, adopting modern and innovative technologies and materials that aim to minimise the project’s components. Featuring slender contours and a continuous structure in which joints are integrated and made natural, Longframe is ideal for outdoor spaces.
The extruded aluminium frame, which supports a PVC-coated polyester mesh, a hallmark of the FRAME collection, extends into a curved silhouette, creating a light, comfortable and organically designed chaise longue.

The selection of Longframe as part of the “Abitiamo alla marinara” exhibition is a unique opportunity for Alias to share with the public our vision of design, which combines aesthetics, functionality and a strong Italian identity.
