Alias presents the Frame limited edition
Celebrating the iconic chair originally designed by Alberto Meda in 1991, now reproduced in a limited edition of 79 pieces to mark the 45th anniversary of Alias.
Alias, the prestigious Italian design brand, pays tribute to Alberto Meda's Frame collection by presenting a re-edition of the inaugural chair from the renowned seating series. This special version, limited to only 79 numbered pieces and available from 26 November exclusively on alias.design, celebrates the timeless elegance and innovative design of the original chair, a staple of the Frame collection since its debut in 1991.
Designed by Alberto Meda in 1991, Frame represents a landmark in contemporary design and is still one of Alias' most successful product lines today. Reducing the number of components, integrating functions and enhancing the performance of materials are the key factors that collectively shape the seemingly simple image of this collection. Frame embodies the Italian designer's approach, integrating product design and engineering in his work.
Meda consistently employs modern and cutting-edge technologies and materials, striving to reduce the elements within his creations. 'Fewer shapes, more ideas'as he likes to say. "New technology and materials serve as a rich source of creative ideas when viewed with an interpretative skill that transcends their technical potential. A paradox: the more complex a technology is, the better suited it is to producing simple objects for everyday use, with a clear, almost 'organic' image,'"declared Alberto Meda in 1990.
The Frame limited edition pays tribute to this historic collection introducing 79 numbered pieces as a new chapter in its storied history. Each of the chairs is individually numbered and marked with a laser-engraved aluminium plate with Alberto Meda's signature, ensuring its exclusivity and collectible nature. This limited edition showcases Alias' commitment to innovation by unveiling a new material combination that enhances both the aesthetic and functional aspects of the chair.
