BOTTA Collection

Mario Botta, 1982

Archetypal geometric shapes inspired these historical masterpieces, designed by the great contemporary Ticino architect Mario Botta for the interiors of some of his famous buildings.
The Prima and Seconda chairs are classics in Alias catalogue, true icons of the Made-in-Italy design.
The two chairs originate from the same geometric base with an inversion in the constructive logic. The Prima, constructed back to front, differs from the Seconda, which becomes an armchair with the extension of the two vertical elements and the armrests addition.

About
BOTTA

Prima and Seconda translate Mario Botta’s vision into a rigorous balance between structure and material. They share a perforated steel sheet seat—both a technical and graphic element—and a backrest composed of two black polyurethane cylinders that define comfort and formal identity. Twin chairs, different in gesture and typology, united by an essential timeless geometry.

“Designing a chair – like designing a house – means searching for an enigmatic image capable of representing new needs, capable of responding to contemporary sensibility, and of giving rise to new experiences.” - Mario Botta
