Archiproducts Design Awards 2023

Alias is delighted to announce that it has won the 2023 Archiproducts Design Awards with the Prima chair designed by Mario Botta, a re-edition of the iconic chair presented at the 2023 Milan Furniture Fair. The selection of the 2023 winners was entrusted to an international jury of leading figures in the world of architecture and design. The Prima chair stood out for its concept and design in the furniture category. Inspired by the archetypal forms of architectural geometry, this

historic chair, conceived in 1982, is a true design icon. Designed by the great Ticino-based architect Mario Botta for the interiors of some of his best-known projects, the armless Prima chair will return to the Alias catalogue in 2023, presented in the classic embossed black finish and in the new glossy lacquers. As in the original design, Prima retains a steel frame and perforated sheet steel seat with a backrest comprised of its distinctive cylindrical black polyurethane elements.

First launched in 2016, the annual awards sponsored by Archiproducts bring together key players in the design world to reflect on today’s creative scene. The Archiproducts Design Awards celebrate global design excellence, rewarding experimental research and innovation, the ability to combine functionality and beauty, and the intelligent and creative use of materials and forms. The awards presented in different categories testify to the synergy between designers 

and brands and their creativity and innovation. Archiproducts Design Awards is an important recognition for Alias, testifying to the sustainable approach adopted by the brand, which not only creates new products, but also draws on its archives, enhancing its timeless heritage. With this prestigious award, we are celebrating the timeless appeal of an icon designed by architect Mario Botta, restyled with a “Something Else” twist.
