ALIAS BECOMES A LEADING PLAYER ON THE INTERNATIONAL SCENEBY PARTICIPATING AT DOWNTOWN DESIGN: THE DUBAI DESIGN WEEK, FROM 14 TO 17 NOVEMBER

With its iconic products and new releases, the design experience labelled made in Italy seduces the market of the Emirates.

Alias, an historical brand of Italian design excellence which has built its reputation on a stylistic research made up of pared-down lines and combinations of highly technological materials, is making its debut at Downtown Design, the event dedicated to original and high-quality design, now staging its fifth edition from 14 to 17 November in the Dubai Design District.

“It is an honour to take part in this prestigious event alongside other important international interior design brands and I am certain that it presents a unique opportunity to promote Alias on Middle Eastern markets, particularly that of the Emirates.  Moreover, Downtown Design provides an opportunity to create synergies thus enabling our company to pursue its expansion by exporting the extraordinary values of the Made in Italy cachet”, comments Andrea Sanguineti, brand manager of Alias.

Design icons and novelties, residential and contract projects, crafted manufacturing and technological research: these are the winning combos on which Alias has built its story and forged its values, now translated into a language for recounting the philosophy of Made in Italy at the design week in the Emirates. The Alias vision of fine living is being staged in an exposition space of 50 square metres and expressed by the finest items from the collections signed by this company, whose activity dates back to 1979.
A system of clear glass showcases, reminiscent of the concept of an architectural curtain wall, reveals all the charm of some of the brand’s bestsellers, from the mythical spaghetti chair designed by Giandomenico Belotti in 1979 and the laleggera created by Riccardo Blumer in 1996, which won the prestigious Golden Compass award in 1988, to the essential design of the taormina chairs by Alfredo Häberli and the kobi chair by Patrick Norguet. An exclusive trip through the history of Italian design, amidst fascination, creativity and quality.
Within the actual exposition area, Alias reveals interior design trends through contemporary living experiences.  A dynamic layout invites visitors to discover the project novelties straight from Milan’s Salone del Mobile 2017 edition. The fluid trait of Nendo is expressed in the okome modular seating system and in the enigmatic collection of flow bowl container tables. Similarly to the twelve and eleven high back sofas, the light gravitas of the slim lounge armchairs suggest a well-balanced play of contrasts to the Japanese designer’s projects.
The lightness of the rollingframe 52 collection by Alberto Meda, winner of the Red Dot Award, and the Gran Kobi armchair by Patrick Norguet complete the mood. The living concept is recounted in the austere details of the aline bookcase by Dante Bonuccelli and in the decidedly geometric ones of saen, the coffee table standing on a concrete base designed by Gabriele and Oscar Buratti.
In Dubai, Alias traces the history of Italian interior design with a presentation of projects by some of the most refined designers who have artfully interpreted the vision and underlying philosophy of this company, by combining different materials, using cutting edge construction techniques and offering a fresh, innovative and extremely practical vision.
