About
KAYAK

The challenge for the French designer and Alias was to reduce the thickness of the seat without compromising its physical strength. Once the legs, frame and shell are assembled, there is a sense of great lightness from a formal point of view.
Available in different types, the Kayak chair was awarded the Reddot design award - best of the best - and Menzione d'Onore Compasso d'Oro ADI in 2016.

Patrick Norguet

He was born in Tours in 1969 and studied at the Higher School of Industrial Design in Paris. In 2000, he founded his own design studio, ranging from industrial product design to architectural projects. In 2005, he was named designer of the year at "Now! Design for Living" (Maison & Objets). A free spirit of French design, he developed an approach to design based on eclecticism, designing objects characterised by a continuous search for balance and rationality. He designs interior and architectural products for a wide range of clients. For Alias, he designed the Kobi (2012) and Kayak (2014) seating collections; the Gran Kobi and Gran Kobi essentiel armchairs (2016) and the Vina sofa (2018). He lives and works in Paris.
