ADI Design Index 2015
ADI Design Index 2015 has selected the kayak chair by Patrick Norguet as a candidate for the ADI Golden Compass Award.
Alias is delighted to announce that the kayak chair by Patrick Norguet has been nominated as a candidate for the next edition of the ADI Golden Compass Award, the oldest and most prestigious international design accolade.
For the second consecutive edition, the French designer will be running for the famous award with a chair realized for Alias: in 2014 the kobi chair was in fact selected from the various products entered.
Kayak is a product of technical complexity offering a comfortable seating experience, endowed with aesthetic appeal and stability. The challenge addressed by the French designer was that of reducing thicknesses as far as possible without compromising the chair’s physical strength. So, when assembled, the legs, structure and shell confer a sensation of formal lightness.
As in the past, the selection for this year’s edition is being handled by a special work group, the permanent Design Observatory: over one hundred experts (comprising members not directly associated with ADI) who, throughout the year, region by region, choose the best design products of the year to be presented for insertion in the publication and the exhibition.
ADI Design Index, the annual review of the best Italian design selected by ADI has been featured in two exhibitions held in Milan in October in ADI’s Expo spaces and in Rome in the Exhibition Greenhouse of the Botanical Gardens, both centered on objects and services selected by the Index in the past three years, testifying to one of the most significant branches of contemporary design.
